TALKING WITH HIM MELITON OF HONOR 2021 - ESTHER GARCÍA
The prizes awarded by the Navarra International Film Festival are for a total of six categories:
Within the Navarra International Film Festival - NIFF -, Esther García, producer of The Secret Life of Words, Volver or La piel que habito among other titles and Melitón de Honor of the third edition of the NIFF, will share her experience and knowledge in film production in a relaxed talk with the director of the festival Joaquín Calderón and the people who attend for free, which we can consider a genuine masterclass.
She began her career working as a production secretary on Kim, Pam, pum ... fuego (Pedro ola, 1975) and on the television series Curro Jiménez. Later he has worked with directors such as Álex De la Iglesia, Fernando Trueba, Fernando Colomo, Isabel Coixet and Guillermo del Toro.
In Matador (Pedro Almodóvar, 1986) he coincided with the Almodóvar brothers and since then he has been part of the El Deseo team, producing all of Pedro Almodóvar's films.
Throughout his career he has worked in more than 90 films and numerous television series, both in Spain and in Latin America.
Member of the Association of Women Filmmakers (CIMA).
He has received seven Goyas: three of them for the Best Production Direction for Mutant Action (Álex De la Iglesia, 1992), All about my mother (Pedro Almodóvar, 1999) and The secret life of words (Isabel Coixet, 2005) and four more as producer for Volver (Pedro Almodóvar, 2007), The Secret Life of Words , Wild Tales (Damian Szifrón, 2014) and Pain and Glory (Pedro Almodóvar, 2020).
He has developed a production model associated with acting independence, giving impetus to new filmmakers.
